My research is focused on enhancing cell survivability and proliferation in double network hydrogels. Hydrogels are interesting for their potential in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine but are currently limited by several factors. One of the most limiting factors in developing cell seeded hydrogels is their size, due to the poor diffusion of oxygen and movement of necessary nutrients. My work is testing how the permeability in tough double network hydrogels impacts cells seeded in the gels.
